Shop for used materials withdrawn from the library collection
Help support the library through your purchase of withdrawn materials from the collection via the library's online resale partner, Better World Books.
Proceeds realized via the sale of these materials is returned to the Government of the District of Columbia which funds the library.
Donating used books and media to the DC Public Library
The library is not currently accepting the donation of used books or media.
Note: if you posses unique materials of local interest that are not presently available in the Black Studies Center or the Washingtoniana collection, and you would like to speak with a librarian about donating such items to the library, please contact the office of Collection Development and Management. While the library may not accept every donation offer, special consideration will be given for such items. The office of Collection Development can be reached at (202) 727-1117.

Selected Friends of the Library Chapters
Various chapters of The Friends of the DC Public Library frequently accept book donations for their periodic book sales. Prior authorization is required, so please phone ahead to ensure that your neighborhood chapter of Friends of the Library is accepting donations at this time. For a listing of branches, hours and phone numbers, visit the library's Locations page. Items donated to the Friends of the Library will not be added to library collections.
