Girls Rock! DC Instrument Share and Recruitment Fair

Come Rock Out at the Library

Girls Rock!DC 2009 ShowcasePlease join us for a library instrument share on Saturday, May 1, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., courtesy of Girls Rock! DC. An instrument share is a way for kids to get their hands on electric + bass guitars, full drum sets, DJ equipment, keyboards and more!

Girls Rock! DC Rock Camp is a week long day camp for girls ages 8-18 in August. Girls Rock! DC Rock Camp is put on each year by a nonprofit collective of D.C. female musicians and music lovers. Check out this cool video to see what it's all about. With a base in music education, Girls Rock! DC aims to create a supportive, inclusive and creative space for girls to develop their self-confidence, build community, stand up and rock out!

Please spread the word to the girls in your lives about this fun program. All are welcome to come by the library and try their hand at a variety of instruments--or just rock the mic!

For more information, or if you would like to bring a large group, please call 202-939-5946 or e-mail barbara.dougherty@dc.gov. There will be a second instrument share at Southeast Neighborhood Library on Saturday 5/15.
