Black Voices Book Club One-Year Anniversary

Dear Neighbors,

September marks the one-year anniversary of the Black Voices Book Club at the Juanita E. Thornton/Shepherd Park Library, and we want you to join us.

he book club meets the third Monday of the month, from 7 to 8:45 p.m., on the second floor of the library.  The book club focuses on fiction authored by African-American, Caribbean, and African authors.  Books we select are available in the DC Public Library System and are placed on hold for club members to check out.

There is still time for you to join us on August 16 to discuss our 11th book, The Conjure-Man Dies: A Mystery Tale of Dark Harlem by Washingtonian Rudolph Fisher.  To learn more about the author of this book, learn about past books we have read and more, please become our fan on Facebook by searching for "Black Voices Book Club-Juanita E. Thornton/Shepherd Park Library."

Club members are a diverse, committed and energetic group of people that will be only better with your participation.  We look forward to you joining us on Monday, August 16, for our next meeting.  If you have any questions, please call Daniel, librarian, at 202-541-6100.
