"The Meaning of Night"
Published on Thursday, August 19, 2010 - 7:36pm
Described by Michael Dirda in his Washington Post book review as Victorian Noir, Michael Cox's The Meaning of Night is a study in psychological obsession wrapped in a complicated tale of deception, ambiguity, and murder. Advice given by the narrator to "trust no one" should be taken by the reader as well. London fog and Sweeny Todd have to bow before the atmosphere of this unsettling novel.
