The Town of Hempstead way of life

This Jan. 17 inter-office memo from the Town of Hempstead Building Department just recently came to our attention thanks to poor snail mail management by me.
With no disrespect to the very real grief experienced by the family of Catherine Mantel, whose death prompted the memo, we pass along the key paragraph. Why? Because it's an illustration of how tightly knit and multigenerational a family business the Town of Hempstead has always been.
"It is with deep regret that we advise you of the passing of Catherine Mantel, mother of Helen Schiotis of the Building Department, mother of Frederick Mantel of the Mechanic Shop in Street Lighting, grandmother of Helen Mantel of the Building Department and grandmother of Catherine Shim of Public Safety."
