Preparing for a test has never been easier with the Testing and Education Reference Center. From the GED to the GRE and everything in between, this database, available through the library, allows users to take practice tests in addition to exploring additional resources.

Make and Take Crafts

Make a Gift for Mother's Day

It's time for May Make and Take Crafts! This month make a Mother's Day card, spring windsocks, and Memorial Day decorations.Make and Take Craft events are held on May 3, 17, and 31 from 4-5 p.m. in the basement meeting room. Children ages 12 and under are welcome, and all craft supplies will be provided.Adult supervision is required for children ages 8 and under.

Gyotaku

Japanese Fish Printing

Learn the art of gyotaku, or Japanese fish printing, at the Southeast Library on Friday, May 4 at 4 p.m. at this hands-on program on traditional Japanese printmaking. Gyo means "fish" and taku means "rubbing".

No Booliwah class on April 7

Due to instructor illness, the Booliwah class on Saturday, April 7 is canceled. We hope to have our next session on Saturday, April 21 as scheduled.

Scissors and glue abound, paper and glitter galore! Every other Thursday, the Southeast Library hosts craft time, so come display your artistic abilities with these fun and simple crafts! For the month of April we will play with the theme "April Showers..."

Two El Día de los Niños Celebrations

Maru Montero Dancers/Story Time

El Día de los Niños/Children's Day is a celebration of language and literacy for children and families of all backgrounds. The Southeast Library will mark the occasion with two special events.On April 26 at 4:30 p.m., the Maru Montero Dance Company performs Mexican and Latin American dances in the garden for children and their families.

Prom Dress Giveaway

You know you have them lurking in your closets...that bridesmaid dress from your cousin's wedding, the gown you wore to the Inaugural Ball. Whatever will you do with those pieces of formal wear that you will never wear again? Donate it to the Southeast Neighborhood Library!

Young Adult Novels Book Club

Teen novels aren't just for teens! The Southeast Library's newest book club featuring young adult novels is for both adults and teens. For our inaugural meeting, we will be discussing Laini Taylor's, Daughter of Smoke and Bone.

In Honor of the National Cherry Blossom Festival

Each year, millions of visitors from all over, along with residents of Washington, D.C., come to see the beautiful blossoms during the National Cherry Blossom Festival. We commemorate the gift of these beautiful trees from Japan and also explore Japanese culture. Join the Southeast Library on Tuesday, April 3 at 4 p.m. as we celebrate with candy sushi!
