The debate about whether Matt Harvey should start the All-Star Game is moot. At least to Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw, the pitcher most frequently mentioned as an alternative to Harvey.

“He should,” Kershaw told FOXSports.com. “There’s no reason, especially if it’s in New York, that he shouldn’t start. That’s what the fans will want. I’ve got no problem with that.”

By traditional measures,...

David Robertson has only been named to an All-Star Game once in his six years in the big leagues, but the Yankees are hoping to change that.

The Yankees reliever was named one of five candidates for the American League All-Star roster's final vote Saturday, and the Yankees have taken social media by storm to try to get fans to vote Robertson into the 2013 game at Citi Field next Tuesday.

Yasiel Puig an All-Star just waiting for an invite

Yasiel Puig of the Los Angeles Dodgers looks

Yasiel Puig walked, doubled and scored a run Friday night in the Dodgers' 10-2 victory over the Giants.

That's what fans of the rock-star rookie would call a bad day.

Through the first 30 games of his career, Puig has hit .420 with eight home runs and 19 RBIs. He has 15 multihit games and gone hitless only three times. That production, combined with infectious energy and a propensity...

Yasiel Puig and the All-Star Game

All-Star voting ends Thursday, and it’s likely to end without Yasiel Puig being named a starter – unless a flood of write-in votes changes things.

But that doesn’t mean that the Cuban-born Dodgers phenom won’t play in the midsummer classic.

First the facts: Puig strolled on to the MLB stage on June 3, like a lightning bolt sent to save the Dodgers’ season and Don Mattingly’s job as manager....

All-Star Game to feature wide array of food and drink

When I agreed to go to Wednesday’s All-Star Game menu sampling at Citi Field, I figured it’d be a small, quick affair. They’d unveil one or two big dishes, we’d try them, the chef would answer questions at the end. Event over.

I couldn’t be more wrong. There was so much food, ranging from traditional to the exotic, that it was impossible to try it all. And if the event was any indication,...

Who should be an All-Star? You make the call

Daniel Murphy is congratulated by teammate David Wright

There are, by a rough estimate, approximately 1,200 baseball players in the major leagues. 68 will have the chance to play in the 2013 All-Star Game July 16 at Citi Field.

This means one thing: there will be snubs. There are a few players across Major League Baseball that have put up solid numbers this season yet still find themselves on the bubble for an All-Star Game berth.

We at Newsday...

The hunt for a spot at the All-Star Game isn’t limited just to baseball players.

Starting Saturday, MLB, in partnership with the Mets, will be conducting a city-wide scavenger hunt – the ultimate prize being tickets to All-Star Week events. The All-Star Game is being held at Citi Field this season.
