Mike Greenberg, Mike Golic to be in-stadium announcers for Home Run Derby

While fans watching on TV will hear Chris Berman’s trademark “back, back, back” call for Monday’s Home Run Derby on ESPN, those at Citi Field will get Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic.
MLB invited the ESPN Radio morning hosts to be in-stadium announcers. Why? “In all candor, I don’t know,” Greenberg said. “But we said, ‘Absolutely.’”
By the way, Greenberg is a Yankees fan. How might that go over with the Queens crowd?
“I never disliked the Mets,” he said. “I root for the Yankees and Jets and Knicks but I never had any animosity . . . Both of my parents are from the Bronx, so I root for the Yankees. But I wish good things for the Mets.”
Golic said there will not be much advance planning.
“Basically, they’re going to put microphones in our hands,’’ he said, “and we’ll ad-lib it as they’re doing it.”
