Want to see some fantastic UK short films for children and families?Come to the Takoma Park Library on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 3 p.m.The British Council Film is partnering with FILMCLUB to showcase some UK short film gems from the last five years, including animation, live action and documentary.The film screenings will be followed by an interactive workshop with Jerome Monohan.
This Saturday we made masks out of construction paper and various craft supplies. This is part of our on-going family program, Family Craft-ernoons, every other Saturday 1-2 p.m. Our next craft-ernoon will be Nov. 2!
Come get in the mood and celebrate the week of Halloween at the Takoma Park Library!We will kick off the week with a Monster PJ Story Time on Monday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. Tuesday, we will have a Witch Story Time at 10:45 a.m. We will end the week with a Halloween Party on Thursday at 6 p.m. with a costume contest, fortune telling and ghost story time for ages 10 and younger.
Join us on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 1 p.m. as we make masks that look like pumpkins -- or jack-o-lanterns -- you decide!Using construction paper, crayons and other materials, we will create fun masks for the changing season, or for Halloween. Participants will, with the help of their parents, cut out their patterns and decorate the masks however they see fit. This activity is designed to be open-ended to give the most creative license to our crafters.For ages 10 and younger.

Let's celebrate fall with a family craft! Starting Saturday, Oct. 5 and continuing every other Saturday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Family Craft-ernoon is an hour to make various arts and crafts projects.To start off the program, we will be making leaf collages, drawing inspiration from the beautiful fall foliage.Learn what trees are in our neighborhood and what their leaves look like!
The Takoma Park branch story times will change along with the library's new hours. Our Pajama and Stuffed Animal Story Time will shift to Monday evenings at 7 p.m. in front of the fireplace. Children are welcome to come in pajamas and bring their favorite stuffed animal to listen to rhymes, stories, and songs.
Come celebrate Hispanic Heritage month with us on Saturday, Sept. 28 starting at 1 p.m. We will kick off with the Maru Montero dancers performing at 1 p.m. There will be face painting of various Latin American flags, Spanish and English bilingual story-time, and live guitar music. There will even be some samples of Salvadoran and Puerto Rican cuisine (thanks to our Friends of the Takoma Park Library and to some of our staff.)
