The computer has become an essential part of the job application process and is a useful tool on the job, as well. Many employers are seeking computer literate candidates to hire in today's job market. In fact, many jobs can be done completely online!
You may be a comic book aficionado, or, like me, you may not know the difference between Marvel and DC Comics, and which superhero belongs to which empire. But I think we can agree that comic books and super heroes are all around us. They're on our clothes and cereal boxes, and they star in our favorite movies and also in our library books.

In honor of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, the Takoma Park DC Library is collecting mittens and socks for those in need during the month of January. We have gotten a great response from our community members, so we decided to extend the drive through Jan. 31 to allow all interested persons to participate.
Over the holiday break, I had the opportunity to get some reading done. Amber House, a new young adult fiction book written by a mother-daughter team, seemed like it would be just the thing to read while I was snowed in at my parents' house.
When I saw this book title, I just had to check it out. I’m from Iowa. I’m not a princess, per se, but I wondered if this book’s setting would be reminiscent of my youth. Like most readers, I enjoy reading about characters that seem similar to me or to someone I know.
