Resume Writing and Cover Letter Workshop and Lab

This 2.5-hour workshop will feature how to maximize the use of Microsoft Word résumé templates to create a dynamic résumé that sets yours apart from the thousands received by an employer. Several websites will be explored to expand your knowledge and effective use of keywords and action verbs, with an emphasis on why both are important to your résumé construction.

At this workshop, staff from the DC Office of Human Rights, DC's civil rights enforcement agency, will explain protections for pregnant workers, including new rights to workplace accommodations and discrimination issues. OHR will also explain protections for jobseekers who are currently unemployed, including protection from discrimination based on the jobseekers' status as unemployed.

Are you having difficulties getting or keeping a job? Come to one of our Jobseeker Legal Clinics at the DC Public Library. You can meet one-on-one with an attorney from Neighborhood Legal Services Program (NLSP) to find out if you have a barrier to employment that an attorney may be able to help you resolve. You can get information about issues such as criminal record sealing, credit reports, background checks, obtaining driving and professional licenses, resolving child support arrearages, wage theft, and other issues.
