50th Anniversary Balloons

Countdown to the 50th Anniversary Celebration at Palisades Library on November 15!

The Palisades Library will celebrate 50 years at the V St NW location from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Library Director Richard Reyes-Gavilan will lead a keynote address beginning at 1:30 p.m. A special day of events is planned including technology workshops, local bands, and a puppet show!  See a 3-D printer in action and meet local community groups!  The day's events have been generously supported by the Friends of Palisades Library.

Spring Book Sale

Please join the Friends of the Watha T. Daniel/Shaw Library for their spring book sale. Proceeds help support the library's programs and events. Downstairs on the lower level from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Friends of the Northeast Library Children's Used Book Sale

Come to the Friends of the Library Children's Used Book Sale!  This will be a sale of Children's Books only.  The Friends have received many wonderful donations of children's materials.  They will have their regular sale of materials for all ages on Saturday, May 14.  All proceeds from the sales will go to support library programs.  Programs you may have attended in the last year include: Block Party, Star Wars Party, Dr. Seuss Party, Library Birthday Party.  These programs are made possible by our Friends.

Celebrate Día in the District

Join us for a bilingual musical performance to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Día - El Día de los Niños/El Día de los Libros = Children's Day/Book Day. Music and fun will be provided by Uno, Dos, Trés con Andrés at 11:00 a.m. in the Meeting Room on the library's Lower Level. Made possible by the generosity of the Friends of the Southeast Library.

Happy 84th Birthday, Northeast Library!

Join us to celebrate the Northeast Library’s 84th Birthday!  You can make book spine poetry, decorate birthday cards, test your knowledge of library history, and relax with library-themed adult coloring sheets.  Children and adults of all ages can enjoy these activities.  Plus, enjoy a piece of birthday cake.  Thursday, March 10 4—5 pm | All Ages Sponsored by the Friends of the Northeast Library

Self-Defense Workshop

Join us to learn the basics of self-defense in this workshop from 10 a.m. - noon.  How to prevent and avoid harassment, attacks, and abuse How to stop a threatening situation with words Physical moves to use against common attacks Anyone can do this!
