Please join us for Making Music & Preserving History, a 90-minute personal archiving workshop led by Derek Gray, DCPL Archivist, and Kenneth Despertt, Special Collections Librarian. The program will take place in the Great Hall and will feature live jazz musical performances by the DC Legendary Musicians, Inc. band.

In this class, you’ll learn how to make small dioramas or “pop-ups” using a matchbox as your frame. We’ll briefly look at other artists who make miniature art and discuss the concept of a matchbox “theater.” We’ll then use X-Acto knives, paper, glue, old postage stamps, and magazine images to create a matchbox piece that you can take home with you.
