50th Anniversary Balloons

Countdown to the 50th Anniversary Celebration at Palisades Library on November 15!

The Palisades Library will celebrate 50 years at the V St NW location from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Library Director Richard Reyes-Gavilan will lead a keynote address beginning at 1:30 p.m. A special day of events is planned including technology workshops, local bands, and a puppet show!  See a 3-D printer in action and meet local community groups!  The day's events have been generously supported by the Friends of Palisades Library.

On this day in 1884, The Ringling Brothers' Circus opened its flaps for business and since that day circus acts have become a standard form of entertainment for children and adults alike. Wonderstruck Shadow Boxes

In honor of Brian Selznick's book Wonderstruck we will be talking about the art of collecting and making our own shadowboxes. We will provide the boxes and some materials to put inside but feel free to bring your own "collections" to display in your box. This program is for ages 6 and up.

Mother's Day Crafts

Join us for a Mother's day crafts on Friday May 1st at 4:00pm. The children will learn to make tissue paper flowers and decorate a jar to hold their flowers. This program is for children of all ages, the very young may need adult assistance.

Mt. Pleasant Youth Arts Fair

Every year, Mt. Pleasant hosts a public art exhibition of work by local students, so everyone in the community can see what talented kids we have in our midst! Stop by the Children's Room on the second floor to view selected works from the 2015 Mt. Pleasant Youth Arts Fair. This year's theme is "Heroes of Mt. Pleasant." The show is featured here at the library and at surrounding local businesses.

Mt. Pleasant Youth Arts Fair Opening Night Reception and Award Ceremony

Join us to honor the participants of the Mt. Pleasant Youth Art Fair until 8 p.m. in the Children's Room on the second floor. Participating artists will receive certificates, and prizes for best in show will be presented.  The artwork relating to this year's theme, "Heroes of Mt. Pleasant," will be on display at the Library, in the Children's Room on the Second Floor, and at local businesses May 4-31.

Mother's Day Gift-Making

Kids 6 and up are invited to make a thoughtful gift for a mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, or other special lady in their life. We'll be outside in the library's garden weather permitting, otherwise in the main reading room.
