Free Bike Repair Clinics

Volunteers from The Bike House, Gearin' Up Bicycles and Chrome Industries will provide bike repair services at no cost for the public outside of Anacostia Neighborhood Library on select Saturdays this summer from noon to 2:30 p.m.

National Bike to Work Day 2016

Ride your bike to work on Friday, May 20 and visit DC Public Library Staff at the Freedom Plaza Pit Stop from 7-10 a.m. Register via the official National Bike to Work Day website for a free T-shirt.

"Read . . . Ride . . .  Like the Wind!!!" In celebration of National Bike Month, Petworth Neighborhood Library invites you to ride your bikes to our Family Story time!

Bike Decorating Party!

It’s Bike Month! Bring your bike to the Children’s Room and listen to bike stories. Then stick around to create bike license plates, streamers and pom-poms, and light up your tires with LEDs and colorful pipe cleaners. For children up to age 12 and their caregivers.

Celebrate National Bike Month with a bike-themed outdoor* Family Story Time!  After Story Time, kids can decorate their bikes with colorful ribbons and streamers. Parents, catch a demo of Tenleytown’s new Bike Fix-it Station and get free bike helmet adjustments for every rider in the family.

Bike to Global Stories and Songs

Hello, Bonjour, Buenos Dias! Good Day, Guten Tag, Konichiwa! It's Bike-to-Work day! Why not scoop up the kiddos after work, then ride on over to Petworth Neighborhood Library to enjoy stories and songs from all around the world? Ms. Tea and Ms. Tracy will help build multi-cultural awareness and appreciation in your young child as our books and music fuel the imagination as we pretend to bike across the globe to different delightful destinations!  

Bike-to-Film Night! Feature Film: E.T.

Pack a snack and ride your bikes over to Petworth Neighborhood Library to help us celebrate National Bike Month. Starting at 4:30 p.m., we will open our lower level patio doors to all of our bike-riding patrons to come park indoors and view the classic family adventure film E.T. as we have our hearts warmed with that endearing, iconic alien-in-a-bike-basket scene!

Gearin' Up Bicycles Pop-up Repair Clinic

Join Gearin' Up Bicycles at our branch for a free two hour bike repair pop-up clinic! Get your bike ready for the summer by learning all about simple bike repairs, safety and general maintenance from this local non-profit. Gearin' Up Bicycles is an organization that trains youth from underserved communities in bike maintenance and repair with the ultimate goal of employment.
