50th Anniversary Balloons

Countdown to the 50th Anniversary Celebration at Palisades Library on November 15!

The Palisades Library will celebrate 50 years at the V St NW location from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Library Director Richard Reyes-Gavilan will lead a keynote address beginning at 1:30 p.m. A special day of events is planned including technology workshops, local bands, and a puppet show!  See a 3-D printer in action and meet local community groups!  The day's events have been generously supported by the Friends of Palisades Library.

For those who need to come into the world of computers, this is the class for you. Overcome your fears and gain the skills that can get you ready for the workplace. This class will be your introduction to basic terminology of the computer, and to acquire basic navigational skills in the Windows environment. Seats will be filled on a first-come, space-available basis. Instructor: J. Johnson         Venue: Meeting Room Required Skills: The ability to read and comprehend English well.

HTML Basics

Introduction to simple Web page design, using the HyperText Markup Language (.html). Seats will be filled on a first-come, space-available basis. Instructor: T. Nguyen Computer Lab, Room 311 Required Skills: The ability to read and comprehend English well, and the skills acquired in PC Basics, Word I Basics, Word II Intermediate, Web I Basics, Web II Intermediate and Email Basics. A significant amount of typing is required! You will learn to: Use four basic HyperText Markup Language tags.

Health Literacy for Healthy Living

Learn to find and assess quality online health information. This class will be 2.5 hours. Seats will be filled on a first-come, space-available basis. Instructors: A. You will learn to: Navigate medical websites. Evaluate medical websites for updates and active links. Research personal health issues.

Learn the latest HTML standard (HTML 5) and how to engage its enhanced capability to deliver multimedia, graphics and other rich content in the creation of Web pages. Seats will be filled on a first-come, space-available basis. Instructor: S. Dodge Computer Lab, Room 311 Required Skills: The ability to read and comprehend English well, and the skills acquired in PC Basics, Word I Basics, Word II Intermediate, Web I Basics, Web II Intermediate, Email Basics and any previous version of HTML. A significant amount of typing is required!
