Whether you've been playing for years, or are interested in learning, come join us for an evening of chess! All ages and experience levels welcome.  The Chess Club meets in the first floor meeting room.

Chess Instruction for Children and Teens

Join master chess instructor Vaughn Bennet as he leads and instructs children and teens in winning strategies for playing chess. Don't forget to pick up your copy or place a hold on Chess for Children by Sabrina Chevaness. Best for ages 5 years to 16 years.

Learn to Play Chess

It's your move! Learn to play chess, improve your game, or practice your moves with other players.  This drop-in group is open to all ages and experience levels and meets every Tuesday and Thursday at 6 pm.

Conscious Chess Moves

Come and participate in the chess club activities at the Anacostia Neighborhood Library. Every Tuesday, engage your chess moves with other players.This program is open to youth ages 10 to 16.

Chess Club

The Francis A. Gregory Library Chess Club meets weekly on Wednesday nights from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. We welcome players of all ages and abilities.This program will be held in the first floor meeting room unless otherwise noted.

Chess Challenge in D.C.: Chess Tournament

Chess Challenge in DC will host an unrated chess tournament for ages K-12. Register early, space is limited.For more information, call 202-281-2598.This program is free and open to the public.Register online or call the Dorothy I. Height Benning Neighborhood Library for further information.

For Teen Tech Week, Chess Club is going high-tech, featuring online play. Come to the Teen Space to learn how to play chess and master unique chess strategies from our instructor. Ages 13-19.
