Crafty Thursday at Afterschool Lounge!

Come join us in the large meeting room upstairs for a craft during afterschool lounge hours! This week we will be making clothespin picture frames! Ages 11-19.

Are You a Wild Thing too?

Join us for a joyous rumpus as we celebrate the classic adventures of Max and all of his "wild things". We'll read some of Maurice Sendak's texts, including the famous Where the Wild Things Are and then participate in a craft or two. You don't have to roar though - they'll be a special snack too! For ages 6 and up.

Zoo Day!

June is National Zoo month. Join us for a fun afternoon as we peer at all of your favorite animals; we'll read some zoo related stories and enjoy an animal related craft. We'll have a roaring good time! For ages 6 and up.

LGBTQ Read aloud and Craft

Join us for this special read aloud as we celebrate all types of families! June is National Pride month; the children's department will host an inclusive storytime featuring different songs and stories. We'll have a rainbow craft afterwards and books will be available for checkout. For ages 4 and up.

Superhero Training Camp

Discover your Superhero Identity!  From 10 am - 1 pm come to the Chevy Chase Library for Superhero Training Camp! Kids and teens can create their own superhero identity, complete with costume. You'll be saving the world in no time! Training camp includes a photo booth, so bring your super fast camera to capture the action.

New Night: Pajama Story Time

A family story time with books, songs, and rhymes before bed. For kids of all ages. 

Free Bike Clinics

Volunteers from The Bike House collective and Capitol Hill Bikes will provide bike repair services at no cost for the public outside of Anacostia Neighborhood Library on select Saturdays this summer from noon to 2:30 p.m. The Washington Area Bicyclist Association will also be on hand to provide advice and connect bicyclists with resources.

Books & Bites at MLK

The Library is happy to announce the return of Books & Bites!Join us each Wednesday, beginning June 3, from 11 a.m. until  2 p.m. in front of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Library. You can purchase a unique and tasty meal from a food truck, check out the latest hot titles, watch movies from our Criterion collection and sign up for Summer Reading!

Bored? Save yourself from summertime boredom and be the hero of your summer vacation story! Join us Tuesdays at 3:30 pm for a different hero themed activity each week. Come make a superhero cape, create a unique superhero character and light up signal, write letters to your personal hero, and even play the villain.  We will not meet on July 21st and August 4th. For children ages 6-12 and their caregivers.
