Pajama Story Time

Pajama Story Time

Join us every  Monday evening for engaging stories, songs, rhymes and movement to support early literacy and "bedtime awareness."  An educational program for children of all ages and their families or caregivers. We meet in Meeting Room 1. Children are encouraged to wear comfy pajamas, bring their favorite bedtime buddy and a grown-up partner to partake in the fun. (Note: PJs and plush buddies are optional)

Creative Movement Class

Come try a creative movement class! We’ll do some stretching and exercises, explore some age-appropriate dance basics, and learn to express music and feelings through movement. Space is limited, so register now by emailing lamondriggslibrary@dc.gov with subject: Creative Movement Registration. Children must be at least 4 years old to participate. Ages 4-6

Japan in a Suitcase

Through the use of some hands-on activities, crafts and colorful PowerPoint presentations, students can learn about Japanese culture and language. Japan-in-a-Suitcase brings traditional toys, clothing, school items, and crafts to encourage a deeper understanding and awareness of Japan and Japanese culture to school children through hands-on activities and demonstrations.  Best for ages 6-13.

Casey Tree Wise Program

TreeWise is Casey Trees’ nature- and place-based summer education program, developed to get youth outdoors, interacting with and appreciating trees. Youth participants engage in fun, hand-on activities including scavenger hunts, leaf and bark rubbings, tree identification and water relays — tailored to be age-appropriate for ages 6-10. There will be two different sessions, one at 10 a.m. and the other at 11a.m.  Each session is an hour long.

Make a Movie Workshop

In this weeklong workshop, children will make a movie, starting from developing a plot and writing a script to filming! This program is recommended for ages 7-12.
