Library Lovers Like to Bike During National Bike Month!

Find out just how many library lovers really like to bike as we celebrate National Bike Month in May 2015! A special bike-to-storytime program is planned in Northeast D.C. and in Northwest D.C., at the beginning and ending of the month!   Saturday, May 2, 9:30-11:30 a.m.: Bicyclists of all ages will meet at Southeast Neighborhood Library by 10 a.m. for a ride to Northeast Neighborhood Library, where we will join other Ward 6 families and enjoy an outdoor celebration with stories, crafts and snacks!

'Wonderstruck' Shadow Boxes

In honor of Brian Selznick's book Wonderstruck, we will be talking about the art of collecting and making our own shadowboxes. We will provide the boxes and some materials to put inside but feel free to bring your own "collections" to display in your box. This program is for ages 6 and older.

Teddy Bear Picnic

It's picnic time for teddy bears, and their friends! Bring a blanket to sit on, and your teddy bear or other stuffed animal friend. We will sit on the front lawn to enjoy stories, songs, and poems about teddy bears. This program is for children from birth to age 4.

Mt. Pleasant Youth Arts Fair

Every year, Mt. Pleasant hosts a public art exhibition of work by local students, so everyone in the community can see what talented kids we have in our midst! Stop by the Children's Room on the second floor to view selected works from the 2015 Mt. Pleasant Youth Arts Fair. This year's theme is "Heroes of Mt. Pleasant." The show is featured here at the library and at surrounding local businesses.

Mt. Pleasant Youth Arts Fair Opening Night Reception and Award Ceremony

Join us to honor the participants of the Mt. Pleasant Youth Art Fair until 8 p.m. in the Children's Room on the second floor. Participating artists will receive certificates, and prizes for best in show will be presented.  The artwork relating to this year's theme, "Heroes of Mt. Pleasant," will be on display at the Library, in the Children's Room on the Second Floor, and at local businesses May 4-31.

Día de los Niños Pajama Story Time

Celebrate el día de los niños during tonight's Pajama Storytime. Children of all ages and their families are welcome to join us for this special storytime to celebrate children, books, learning and literacy and take home a free book!
Every Hero Has a Story

Summer Reading Kick-Off

Celebrate the start of Summer Reading with us! This year, our theme is "Every Hero Has a Story." Our kick-off celebration will take place during our regularly scheduled Saturday LEGOs! program 10 a.m.-12 p.m. in the Children's Room on the second floor. Come build a LEGO city and a superhero to save the day! Plus, sign up for Summer Reading and start earning prizes!
