Global Stories and Songs!

Hello, Bonjour, Buenos Dias! Good Day, Guten Tag, Konichiwa! Ms. Tea and Ms. Tracy invite you to come enjoy stories and songs from all around the world! Help build multi-cultural awareness and appreciation in your young child as our books and music fuel the imagination and carry us across the globe to different delightful destinations each month!   Global Stories and Songs is appropriate for ages 4 to 7. Groups of 9 or more children are requested to schedule a private storytime.

Family Movie Evening

Join us at the Rosedale Neighborhood Library for a fun film for the whole family.  11 year old Akeelah discovers that her talent is spelling and in this story she tries to make the most of it.  Larry Fishburne, Angela Bassett and Keke Palmer star in this wholesome movie.
Fire Truck and Police Car

Firefighters and Police Officers Visit the Library

Join us Thursday, October 22 at 3pm to meet the DC firefighters and police officers who help us every day!   Learn what it’s like to be a firefighter and a police officer, and get an up-close look at a fire truck and police car.

​Family Story Time

Story time fun for the entire family, these 30-40 minutes story times are packed full of books and activities designed to be enjoyed by all ages.  Promoting language and literacy skills, these story times are a great way to further your child’s lifelong love of reading and learning. Children and their grownups are encouraged to actively engage and participate with the stories and activities during the program.

Make a Ghostly Ghoul Friend

Pitter-patter on soft feet/ they always like to come up and creep/ with all these ghosts who the heck could possibly sleep? Ghost stories are a must this time of year as the days shorten and turn nippy. Come and listen to some spooky tales and leave with a ghostly friend who is just dying to come home with you. All craft supplies will be provided. For ages 7 and up. 
Board Game

Board Game Bonanza

Join us after school for some good old fashioned board game fun.  Children ages 6-12 and their family members are encouraged to come to the library and play fun classic games such as Scrabble, Monopoly, Connect Four, Sorry, and more!

Learn about how to digitize and preserve your family’s home films and videos. See exciting home movies from the growing collection of at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture and DC Public Library Special Collections. Use the hashtag #homemoviedaydc to follow and share.

Family Feature Movie- Coraline

An adventurous girl finds another world that is a strangely idealized version of her frustrating home. Despite warnings, she decides to unlock the door when she is home by herself. What do you think is behind the door?                           Do you think Coraline will be able to return to her own world? If you want to find out join us for our monthly movie program.   All ages are welcome.

Halloween Party

Put on your favorite costume and join us for stories, snacks and songs. For children of all ages. Parents and caregivers are welcome to dress up as well!


Join us for our annual Halloween party for ages 0-12.  Crafts, treats, and scavenger hunt from 3:00-5:30. Costume parade at 3:30 and spooky storytelling from 4:00-5:00.
