Santa's Secret Bookshop

From 1-2:30 p.m. the Friends of the Southwest Library will offer children the ability to select two books or DVDs from our store, wrap these gifts for their loved ones, and receive a treat for thinking of others. Children under 9 must be accompanied by a caregiver. Questions? Call 202-724-4691. 

Build It Studio: Holiday Houses

Join us in the Children's Room for Build-It Studio. For December we'll be making holiday houses out of graham crackers and decorating them with other tasty treats. Children under 9 should be accompanied by an adult. Questions? Please call 202-724-4691.

Lego Club

Here’s the chance to build to your heart’s content! There will be opportunities for free building, and some days we’ll have specific building challenges. Join our Lego Club and come ready to create! Ages 6-12.

Life Size Candy Land

Join us to celebrate International Games Day! Our main attraction will be our life-size interactive Candy Land game. ​Take a picture with Princess Lolly and see Candy Castle!  This event is aimed at ages 5 - 12 and will take place in the Children's Room We will have events all over the library, so have fun on us!

International Games Day

Celebrate International Games Day with the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Library on Saturday, November 21.  Gamers of all ages are welcome to try their hand at our Wii Station and a variety of board games.The fun starts at 11 a.m. in Room A-10, located on the Library's lower level.  Afterwards, stay for our trading card clubs: the Trading Card Meetup starts at 12 noon and Battle Subway Pokemon League starts at 2 p.m.

Sports Shenanigans Storytime

African American Inventions

Black Inventions Party

Come in any day in the month of February, randomly choose an invention by an African American from our inventions bowl, and bring that invention or a photo of that invention to our Black Inventions party. This is a fantastic learning project for the entire family. Inventions will be on display during library hours beginning on Saturday, February 27 through Sunday February 28, 2015.

Family Feature Movie

Come join us for our monthly family featured movie. This month we will be showing a movie on the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Storyteller: Cheryl "Sparkle" Mosley
