Happy Tails Story Time

Join us for a fun story time with adorable DOGS!   We kick off this story time with a book, some songs and then it is your turn. Bring your own book, make up a story, or grab a book here in the library to read to a lovable doggie! Many thanks to the volunteers with People Animals Love (PAL) for bringing in their pets.

Healthy Schools Story Time

Join us in the Children's Room for a special story time celebrating healthy habits for kids, presented by the D.C. Healthy Schools Act.   The Healthy Schools Act Story time uses language arts as a method to promote literacy, teach nutrition, and encourage physical activity for children ages 5 and older. Children younger than 9 years old must be accompanied by a caregiver.
Pajama Story Time

Pajama Story Time

Join us every Thursday evening for engaging stories, songs, rhymes and movement to support early literacy and "bedtime awareness."  An educational program for children of all ages and their families or caregivers. We meet in Meeting Room 1. Children are encouraged to wear comfy pajamas, bring their favorite bedtime buddy and a grown-up partner to partake in the fun. (Note: PJs and plush buddies are optional)

Come join us for a teddy bear picnic! We'll have an indoor picnic with snacks, a teddy bear-themed storytime, and activities. Bring your teddy bears or other favorite stuffed animals!

How To Be A Hero: The Sequel!

"How To Be A Hero: The Sequel" is a fun storytelling, reading, writing and drawing program for our Summer Readers, ages 6 - 9.   Let’s explore the continuing adventures of those superhero “alter egos” and bring the adventures to an exciting end! This program can count towards 1 hour (= 4 colored masks) of Summer Reading credit!

How to Be A Hero

"How To Be A Hero" is a fun storytelling, reading, writing and drawing program for our Summer Readers, ages 6 - 9.   Let’s create cool origin stories with illustrations to explain our superhero names, powers and personalities (also known as “alter egos”)!  This program can count towards 1 hour (= 4 colored masks) of Summer Reading credit!

OSSE Healthy Schools ACT: Story Time

Question: What food every hero loves to eat? Answer: Come and find out on July 8. Join us for a fun, interactive read-aloud with books from the Healthy Schools Act Booklist that celebrates health and wellness. This program is for 5- to 10-year-olds designed to build literacy, listening and group participation skills. For ages 5-7 at 10:30 a.m. Ages 8-12 at 1 p.m.

Healthy Schools Act Story Time

Join us for a fun read-aloud with Nutrition Education Specialist, Laura Hansen.  In addition to teaching kids about nutrition and physical activity, this story time aims to build literacy, listening, and group participation skills. Recommended for children between the ages of 5-10.   
French Story Time

French Story Time

French Story Time is for children of all ages. This program includes songs, music and motion and is very interactive. Children have the opportunity to learn French songs, practice their French, and connect words with motion, as well as enjoy stories. Come and join us every Thursday at 4 p.m. (except on holidays!)
