Saturday Morning Story Time

DC Public Library has partnered with the Junior League of Washington to offer Read Aloud time for ages 2-5 every Saturday at 10 a.m.  Join us to enjoy stories, rhymes and finger plays in front of the fireplace!

Dr. Seuss Day

Celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday and Read Across America with the following programs at the William O. Lockridge/Bellevue Library: Dr. Seuss on Loose Story Time, 10:30 a.m. Music, stories, activities and crafts for children 7 and under. Fun with Thing 2 and 1, 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. Treats, games, and crafts for children 12 and under. Seuss Film Fest, 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Treats and animated films based on Dr. Seuss's most popular books.  

Family Story Time

Story time fun for entire family, these 30-40 minutes story times are packed full of books and activities designed to be enjoyed by all ages. Promoting language and literacy skills, these story times are a great way to further your child's lifelong love of reading and learning. Children and their grownups are encouraged to actively engage and participate with the stories and activities during the program.  All programs are free and open to the public.

Dr. Seuss on the Loose

Come and celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday and meet "The Cat in the Hat" and possibly other characters in his vast collection of books.  This program is free and open to the public. Advance registration is recommended. For more information, please call 202-281-2585 For ages 3-6

Dr. Seuss Birthday Party

Happy birthday, Dr. Seuss! It’s an all-day celebration at the library. Join us at 11 a.m. for a special Dr. Seuss-themed storytime for Preschoolers ages 3-5. Afterwards, we’ll make our own Lorax moustaches, Cat in the Hat hats, and more! At 4 p.m., we’ll have a scavenger hunt for Thing 1 and Thing 2 and their friends. Festivities conclude at 6 p.m., so don’t miss your chance to pin a heart on the Grinch!

Family Story Time

Story time fun for the entire family, these 30-40 minutes story times are packed full of books and activities designed to be enjoyed by all ages.  Promoting language and literacy skills, these story times are a great way to further your child’s lifelong love of reading and learning. Children and their grownups are encouraged to actively engage and participate with the stories and activities during the program.

Baby and Toddler Story Time

These 20-30 minute story times are full of books, songs, rhymes and fingerplays for children birth to two years old. Our Baby and Toddler Story Time is a great way to introduce your child to language skills in a positive and fun environment. With slightly more activity and movement than our lap times, children and their grownups are encouraged engage with the books and songs and to actively participate in the program. First session is at 10 a.m.and the second is at 11 a.m. Please plan to attend only one of the identical sessions.
