For this coming school year (2014-15), DC Public Schools (DCPS) and participating public charter schools have a common application and lottery. Visit MySchoolDC.org to find everything you need to learn and apply, or come to one of the information sessions listed below. The application closes Feb. 3 for grades 9-12 and March 3 for grades PK3-8.

2014stBeginning in 2014, the Tenley-Friendship Neighborhood Library will offer a new programming schedule, featuring story times, book clubs, and activities for children of all ages on  a weekly basis.

For Non-walkers: Baby Lap Time
Wednesdays, 11 a.m., Children’s Programming Room, First Floor
Families must register for this story time on a weekly basis. To register, email Miss Christina at christina.mctighe@dc.gov, no more than seven days in advance and provide your child's name and age. Siblings and nanny share buddies are welcome!

For Walkers up to 2 years: Wonderful Ones

Join us at the Tenley-Friendship Neighborhood Library for an Independent Reader Book Club for children aged 9 to 12.

We will meet the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 4 p.m. to discuss half of a pre-selected book.

Shyamal Uncle Turns off the LightsJoin us on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 6 p.m. in the large conference room on the second floor as we watch Shyamal Uncle Turns Off the Lights as part of the Global Lens Film Series.

Shyamal Uncle is an 80-year-old retiree who lives with his wife in Paik Para, India. He notices that the lights in his neighborhood are on 24/7. He thinks that this is a huge waste of energy resources and money.

The Tenley-Friendship Neighborhood Library will host Winter themed Family Story Times at 11 a.m., 12 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.

At 12:30 p.m., parents of Infants and Toddlers can participate in a Sing, Talk, and Read (STAR) workshop to learn tips and techniques for Early Literacy.
