ASHBURN, VA - JULY 02: The partially reconstructed wreckage of the Trans World Airlines Flight 800 (TWA 800) sits in a hanger at the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Training Center July 2, 2013 in Ashburn, Virginia. TWA 800 flight exploded shortly after takeoff on July 17, 1996 from John F. Kennedy International Airport, killing all 230 onboard and crashing into the Atlantic Ocean. Today, members of the media were invited back to review the wreckage and the details of the NTSB investigation.

About John F. Kennedy International Airport

John F. Kennedy International Airport (IATA: JFK, ICAO: KJFK, FAA LID: JFK) is an international airport located in Queens, in southeastern New York City and about 12 miles (19 km) from Lower Manhattan. The airport was originally known as Idlewild Airport (IATA: IDL, ICAO: KIDL, FAA LID: IDL) in 1948 and was renamed New York International Airport in the same year, though the original name remained in common use. The airport was renamed in 1963 in memory of the late President John F. Kennedy. It is colloquially referred to simply as "Kennedy" or "JFK."
