New Deanwood Library

DC Public Library is partnering on a joint development with WMATA to build a new full-service stand-alone library at the Deanwood Metro Station to replace the 7,300 sq. ft. library co-located with the Deanwood Recreation Center.

New Edgewood/Eckington Library

The Northwest One Library co-located with the Walker Jones Education Complex is slated to be replaced with a new full-service 20,000+ sq. ft. neighborhood library, providing greater access to library services and resources for neighbors. A new library for the Edgewood/Eckington neighborhood is tentatively slated to open in 2030.

New Rosedale Library

DC Public Library is beginning the site inventory process for the construction of a new full-service library to replace the small Rosedale Library to provide expanded service to existing residents.

New Parklands-Turner/Congress Heights Library

DC Public Library is currently starting the design process for a fully funded new library in Congress Heights. The Library has selected the design-build team of Perkins + Will Architects and Turner Construction. The new full-service, 20,000-square-foot plus library is proposed to be built next to the Congress Heights Metro Station. This library will replace the store-front Parklands-Turner Library, located at 1547 Alabama Ave. SE.

Southeast Library Modernization Project

The Southeast Library is being modernized. The design for the $33 million transformation of this historic Carnegie library is now complete. The renovated library will include expanded space for children, teens and adults, more space for books, computers and seating, preservation and restoration of the building's historic elements, a universally accessible entrance, restoring the exterior landscape, environmentally sustainable design and more meeting, collaboration, and study space
